Cleaning Profit Builders: The Power of Goal Setting and Accountability Groups

Have you ever found yourself working toward a goal and failing? Maybe you’ve started your own business or tried to lose weight, or just tried to be better at an aspect of your life, and you found that it wasn’t nearly as easy as you’d thought it would be. This happens all the time – but it doesn’t have to! If you set realistic goals, hold yourself accountable, and recognize the signs that your goals aren’t working out, then you can avoid much of the heartache and disappointment that comes with failing to meet your expectations in life.

Set short-term goals
Setting goals is important because it gives you something to strive for and helps keep you on track. We recommend setting long-term goals, as well as short-term goals, and then some next steps you can do to get closer and closer to the end game. But it’s not enough to just set goals; you need to have a plan for how you’re going to achieve them. This plan includes taking action and consistency. That’s where accountability groups come in.

Build your team
Accountability groups are designed to help you stick with your goals by meeting with other people who are working towards the same goal as you. It can be helpful if your accountability group meets regularly so that they can provide feedback, encouragement, and support while also helping each other stay accountable. If you’re new to an accountability group, start small with a partner or two in order to work out any kinks before involving more people. You should also set a specific time frame for the length of your meetings, such as monthly or weekly meetings, and make sure everyone agrees on what will happen if someone misses a meeting – maybe it means skipping their next meeting or agreeing on another consequence.

Track your progress
One of the best ways to achieve your goals is to track your progress. This way, you can see how far you’ve come and how much closer you are to your goal. Tracking your progress also allows you to identify any roadblocks that might be getting in your way. There are many different tools out there for tracking progress – a spreadsheet, a Google doc, or even an app! You’ll want to choose something you’re comfortable with and can keep up with. Do what works best for you!

Celebrate your accomplishments
When you reach a goal, it’s important to celebrate your accomplishment! Celebrate the completion of small goals along the way. This not only feels great, but it also helps motivate you to keep going. Rewards can be anything that makes you happy- maybe it’s a new book, a cupcake, or an afternoon off. Whatever it is, make sure to treat yourself! Also, celebrate your team and those who have supported you!
